Many of you who started to read this article must have a curiosity in their mind. How do writers create worlds? How does a Dungeon Master make those up? What is the secret behind worldbuilding?
Reminder: There is no such thing as a Golden Rule in writing! This is my approach of storytelling, so consider reading other people their articles, ideas and thoughts as well.
For me, it feels easy to create worlds. I have five years of writing experience. But for others it’s a mystery or a real strugles. These are some guidelines that I use. Let’s start by the biggest mistake.
It happens over and over by new writers. They have an idea of a story . It’s your first shot at writing fantasy, so you decide to place it in a medieval time.

Dragons are great, but in my opinion it’s overhyped. When a writer start to show them this creature I like to let them think and ask a simple question.
